my grand mother had went in the hospital with sickness and they found lung cancer on her and the dr had put the port in her chest so she could get the chemotherapy and his nurses kept putting the chemo treatments off then she died after that is there anything i can do
Possibly comfort your grandfather.
There is no obvious malpractice here. Lung cancer is still incurable. The drugs they were using were probably pain killers and not chemo, because she would have been in a lot of pain.
I’m so sorry for your loss, and its hard when you may feel that someone is to blame.
There probaby was a good reason they had for putting off treatment (low blood cell counts, fever, etc.). I agree with the other response, comfort was really the goal and always is the main priority when a cancer is stage 4. There wouldn’t have been a cure.
Sorry for your loss.
Loss can make us revenge hungry can’t it? I’m sorry for your loss but you still need to remember that not everything that goes wrong warrants a lawsuit or revenge. It certainly will not bring your grandmother back.
Before making yourself feel awful about it all, consider that perhaps the chemotherapy would have done no good. Chemo is not a pleasant treatment. If her cancer had progressed so far that not only would the chemo not have helped but it would make her last minutes/days horrible then I wouldn’t have given it to her either. Nurses don’t ever put things off. They can only administer medications at order of the doctor. The doctor may have had a reason (as I stated before) for doing that. Consider that your grandmother or her power of attorney may have requested not to have the chemo. Depending on who has access to her protected health information, the medical staff may not have been at liberty to inform you of her decision if that was the case. Instead of assuming the worst and seeking revenge, try speaking with the medical team about decisions that they made. Deciding you need revenge is only going to make it harder for you to heal from this loss.
Sorry to hear about your Grandmother’s passing. Since she died so quickly, she was probably too ill to have the chemotherapy treatments. Chemotherapy is harsh and makes a person quite weak and sick. It can actually kill a person. The doctor and nurses knew she was very ill and that she most likely would not be able to tolerate chemotherapy treatments.
